Theatre Education: A Resource of Practical and Project-Based Warm-ups/Theatre Games for K-12

Who’s the Leader?
Text Box: Skills L? [ß
Where we learned it: Acting class in high school
Grade: 4th grade and up
Materials: None

Process:

  1. Have the students get into a circle.
  2. Left Arrow Callout: ® _ One person volunteers to be the person to find the leader and goes outside of the classroom.
  3. While that person is outside, another student volunteers to be leader and starts a movement.
  4. The whole group copies the repeatable movement and tries to make it look as though there is no leader and the whole group is moving as one.
  5. Let the leader know that when the student outside comes in and begins searching for the leader, the leader must also, as the whole group is moving, slowly change the movements.
  6. The goal for the leader and the group is to not get caught and the goal for the student outside is to come in and identify the leader.
