Theatre Education: A Resource of Practical and Project-Based Warm-ups/Theatre Games for K-12

 Wax Museum
Text Box: Skills L ?Ñ
Where we learned it: Creative Drama at NU
Ages: 2nd grade and up
Materials: Large space

Process:

  1. Left Arrow Callout: ® ? Ask for a volunteer to be the Janitor or have the leader be the Janitor.
  2. Tell the story of the Janitor who works at a museum where the statues come a live at night.  When they think no one is looking they try to move around.
  3. The objective of the Janitor is to catch the statues moving (The statues can breathe and blink but if the Janitor catches them looking around, they are out).

Variations:

    • Play Magic Garden with younger students and act out a different scenario for the statues to change each time.
    • Any theme or topic can be used as ideas for statues.  The students who are “out” can help the janitor catch others.
