Theatre Education: A Resource of Practical and Project-Based Warm-ups/Theatre Games for K-12

Story Circle

Ages: Kindergarten and up

Process:

  1. Have everyone sit in a circle.
  2. Have one person start by saying the first sentence in a story.
  3. The person next to them will add the second sentence.
  4. The person next to them will add the third sentence.
  5. Continue around the circle adding to the story one sentence at a time until the story comes to an end.
  6. The purpose is to listen and work together to create a story that makes sense.

Variations:

  1. Each person can only say one word at a time.
  2. Each person must start her sentence with a particular letter of the alphabet (e.g., the first person starts with A, the second person with B, etc).
