Theatre Education: A Resource of Practical and Project-Based Warm-ups/Theatre Games for K-12

Ages: 1st grade and up        
Materials: None

 

Process:

  1. Left Arrow Callout: ?  ¯ Ask students to sit down cross-legged in a circle.
  2. The facilitator will begin by rubbing hands together like she is trying to warm up.
  3. The facilitator will pass this motion to the student next to her so that gradually all the students join in as the motion gets passed around the circle.
  4. When the motion returns to the facilitator, she begins to snap fingers and passes that new motion to her neighbor.
  5. When the motion returns to the facilitator, she begins clapping and passes that new motion to her neighbor.
  6. When the motion returns to the facilitator, she begins stomping feet on the floor and passes that new motion to her neighbor.
  7. When the motion returns to the facilitator, she returns to clapping and passes that new motion to her neighbor.
  8. When the motion returns to the facilitator, she returns to snapping and passes that new motion to her neighbor.
  9. When the motion returns to the facilitator, she returns to rubbing hands and passes that new motion to her neighbor.
  10. When the motion returns to the facilitator, she rests hands on his/her lap and passes that new motion to her neighbor.
  11. The facilitator waits to speak until there is no more sound or movement.
  12. We have just created our own little rainstorm!
