Theatre Education: A Resource of Practical and Project-Based Warm-ups/Theatre Games for K-12
People to People

Where we learned it: Creative Drama at NU
Ages: Kindergarten and up
Materials: An even number of players
Process:
The leader acts as “drill sergeant” and instructs the participants what to do.
- The first call that the leader makes is “People to people.” On that cue, all the participants have to find and stand next to one other person.
- The leader then makes a certain number of calls (I usually use three) instructing the pairs to connect certain body parts. For example, “head to head” or “shoulder to shoulder” or “wrist to wrist.”
- Be aware of touching certain body parts and making all the participants feel comfortable with physical contact
- The leader then calls “People to people” again and all the participants have to find a new partner.
- Play until you see the class is sufficiently mixed up so that people who might not normally work together are paired or until interest is faded.
Variation:
- Add in unusual combinations such as “knee to head” and “finger to toe.”
