Theatre Education: A Resource of Practical and Project-Based Warm-ups/Theatre Games for K-12

Pantomime Time of Day
Text Box: Skills L ?
Where we learned it: Theatre for Social Change at ASU
Ages: 4th grade and up
Materials: None

Process:

  1. Left Arrow Callout: ® ? _ ! Have the students find their own space in the room.
  2. Let the students know that they will be recreating a day in their own life, hour by hour in their own personal space.  This activity should be pantomimed with no vocal aspect (silent).
  3. Start with a time of day, for example 8:00 am.  Begin side-coaching the students about activities.  For example, what are you doing at 8:00 in the morning?  Are you at school, getting things out of your locker, sitting in class taking notes, singing in choir, sleeping, etc?  Don’t worry about anyone else, just what you are doing at 8:00.
  4. Continue the exercise by hours until you reach 8:00 am again.  Continue to side-coach as needed throughout the exercise.
