Theatre Education: A Resource of Practical and Project-Based Warm-ups/Theatre Games for K-12

Name 10
Text Box: Skills 6 ?Ñ
Where we learned it: Improvisation with Youth at ASU
Ages: Kindergarten and up
Materials: Ball

Process:

  1. Left Arrow Callout: ? _ ! Ask everyone to stand in a circle.
  2. Toss the ball to someone and name a category (e.g., flowers, Presidents, instruments).
  3. That person passes the ball to her right and names 10 items in that category before the ball is passed all the way around the circle and reaches her again.
  4. When the ball gets back to her, she gets to toss it to someone new and say a new category.
  5. The new person has to pass the ball to her right and name 10 items in the new category before the ball gets passed around the circle.
  6. Repeat until everyone has had a turn naming 10 items for a category.
  7. If a person cannot name 10 items in the category, she is either out or she must tell an interesting fact about herself before returning to the game.
