Theatre Education: A Resource of Practical and Project-Based Warm-ups/Theatre Games for K-12

Big Booty
Text Box: Skills L6?[
Where we learned it: Acting class at NU
Ages: 6th grade and up
Materials: None

Process:

  1. Left Arrow Callout: ® ? _¯ Have the class stand in a circle.  The teacher, or another designated student, is “Big Booty.”
  2. Starting with the person on Big Booty’s left, go around the circle and assigned each person a consecutive number.  The number designates the spot in which that person is standing.
  3. Teach everyone the rhyme: “Ahhhhhhhhh Big Booty, Big Booty, Big Booty Big Booty.”  The rhyme follows a simple clapping rhythm with everyone clapping each time they say, “Booty.”
  4. Once the group is competent at the rhythm and the chant, start calling out numbers.  Big Booty starts by saying her own number and someone else’s number as the clapping continues (“Big Booty, Number 7”).  Then, that person (Person 7) has to say her number and someone else’s in the rhythm (“Number 7, Number 3”) and so on until someone gets off rhythm.
  5. The person who dropped the rhythm goes to the last spot in the circle and all the people shift down one number toward the Big Booty spot.  The goal is to get into the Big Booty spot.
