Kitty Wants a Corner
Where we learned it: Creative Drama class at NU
Age: 2nd grade and up
Materials: None
Process:
- Get into a circle standing up.
- A
ssign or ask for a volunteer to play “kitty.” Kitty is in the center of the circle and goes up to someone in the circle and says, “Kitty wants a corner.”
- The person responds with, “No, go ask my neighbor.”
- Kitty then goes and says, “Kitty wants a corner” to the next person in the circle.
- While this is happening everyone in the circle is trying to switch spots. Two people make eye contact without saying anything and agree to switch places.
- While they are switching, kitty tries to win one of the spots now vacant.
- If kitty gets to one of those spots then the person left out is now kitty, if not then that same person continues to be kitty and continues to say, “Kitty wants a corner” around the circle.
