Theatre Education: A Resource of Practical and Project-Based Warm-ups/Theatre Games for K-12
Hug Tag
Where we learned it: Creative Drama at NU
Ages: Kindergarten and up
Materials: None
Process:
Clear the room of obstacles or find a good open space.
- Ask for a volunteer to be “it.”
- Explain that the person who is “it” will try to tag people. If they tag someone, that person becomes the new “it.”
- To save yourself from becoming “it,” you can hug someone. Define a hug as between two people (use sideways hugs if physical contact is awkward for the participants).
- To keep it fair, you cannot hug the same person twice in a row.
- Play.
- Keep all the participants aware of who is “it” at all times. The “it” will change frequently.
