Theatre Education: A Resource of Practical and Project-Based Warm-ups/Theatre Games for K-12

Fruit Salad

Ages: Kindergarten and up
Materials: None

 

Process:

  1. Left Arrow Callout: ?  _ S@ Everyone sits in a circle, in chairs if possible
  2. Everyone gets dubbed the name of one of four fruits (let them pick the four fruit names).
  3. One person is in the middle.  She calls out the name of a fruit.  Everyone who is assigned that name has to get up and find a new chair.  The person in the middle tries to get one of the empty chairs and a new middle person is left.

Variations:

  1. Call out two fruits.
  2. Call out “Fruit Salad” and everyone has to switch.
  3.  This game can be adapted to use anything (e.g., tools (for tech theatre), nursery rhyme characters, sea animals).
