Theatre Education: A Resource of Practical and Project-Based Warm-ups/Theatre Games for K-12
Fruit Salad
Where we learned it: Creative Drama at ASU
Ages: Kindergarten and up
Materials: None
Process:
Everyone sits in a circle, in chairs if possible
- Everyone gets dubbed the name of one of four fruits (let them pick the four fruit names).
- One person is in the middle. She calls out the name of a fruit. Everyone who is assigned that name has to get up and find a new chair. The person in the middle tries to get one of the empty chairs and a new middle person is left.
Variations:
- Call out two fruits.
- Call out “Fruit Salad” and everyone has to switch.
- This game can be adapted to use anything (e.g., tools (for tech theatre), nursery rhyme characters, sea animals).
