Pageant
http://artswork.asu.edu/arts/students/tb/11_00_pageant.htm

A pageant can be an elaborate historical drama, but here, we're talking a parade. There a number of holidays that feature parades, our political holidays, Chinese New Year, and Dias de los Muertos, for example. We use the parade as a motivation for students to study the Chinese culture and Chinese New Year. In January or February, depending on the dates of the New Year for the current year, we parade our lion head through each classroom, the office and the cafeteria, handing out lay see (the traditional red envelopes with a lucky penny for each child, teacher and school worker).

If there is no parental objection to Day of the Dead ceremonies, a parade featuring the Mexican holiday during Halloween would be great fun!Check out our unit on China http://artswork.asu.edu/arts/students/wc/index.htm and the Chinese New Year Holiday materials at http://artswork.asu.edu/arts/students/holidays/index.htm

See also the materials for Dias de los Muertos at the holidays site.
