Reading your dialogues Playwrights like to hear their plays read. When they hear the dialogue they can decide what sounded believable, what seems natural for the characters to say. They can also decide what they need to change so that the audience will like their play. When you wrote your dialogue, you were being a playwright. Now, it’s important to find out what an audience thinks of your dialogue! Give a copy of your dialogue to your classmates. They can practice reading it. Click here for some hints about play reading. Then your classmates can read your dialogue in class. It is important for everyone to listen very carefully, because the next step is for them to tell you know if they knew who your characters were and what they saying. You need to critique your play! Critiquing your play Make the changes that you would like to see. Correct
any spelling or punctuation that you think needs to be changed. Put your
dialogue and your outline in your drama portfolio. It will be fun to see
how your ideas and writing change as you write more plays.
