Book Illustrator

A book illustrator draws and colors pictures to show what the characters in a story do. Look at some of your favorite picture books. See how each artist draws his or her own way. That is why drawing for books so much fun.

Here is your chance to illustrate a story. Print the following story and draw and then color your illustrations. Draw your pictures in the blanks. There will be a caption telling what the characters are doing. Be certain your pictures help to tell the story.

Taking Sammy for a Walk

Pat and Pattie were twins. There were two of them, but they had only one dog. Their dog’s name was Samantha. They called her Sammy.

Pat and Pattie liked to take Sammy for a walk.

The problem was where to take Sammy for her walk.

Pattie wanted to go to the park and swing. But Sammy fell off the swings.

Pat wanted to go to the lake and feed the ducks. But Sammie liked to chase the ducks. That was not nice for the ducks.

Where should they go? Pat thought. Pattie thought. Sammie thought.
